About Lydia
I am a 20 year old Scottish girl who caught the travel bug after a trip to Croatia at 16. Having not really travelled abroad as a kid, the holiday opened my eyes to how big the world is and how unique other countries were to the UK. It wasn't long after my 17th birthday that I had plans to backpack Sicily, dive in Sharm El Sheikh and city hop Budapest, Krakow and Paris, eager to learn about different cultures. Back home, I grew up as a highland dancer, driving across Scotland for different competitions and shows from a very young age, meaning our weekends were taken up and we struggled to find time to go away. However, I have always loved planning trips as a kid despite not being able to go, so dedicating that love for worldwide research into what I do day to day now is exactly why I am thrilled about Adventures Across Borders. After dancing, I became a runner and have since been able to race half marathons and 10ks, but I also love yoga, HIIT, swimming and hiking. I have always struggled staying in one place, so when I was introduced to backpacking, I immediately fell in love with seeing multiple places in one trip and experiencing everything a country has to offer. I have since dedicated my experiences to showing other people this is possible on my Instagram and sharing how to do it on a budget. I am certain this drive and passion will reflect in my work on the website and social media pages, hopefully with even more opportunities to come.
About Ella
Hi, I'm Ella, I am in my early 20s, and during these years, I have grown confident in my passions and interests. When I was younger, my family and I often went on all inclusive holidays to Spain or Greece...which, don't get me wrong, was really fun! However, now I am older, I get to experience the real moments, and the zest for life through other cultures.
I am a very creative person, most of the things I love involve scrapbooking, making music, photography, crocheting, and learning. It helps that i am an introvert, I like my alone time to do all of those things, and they help me to understand the world.
I might be afraid of heights, changes, and the unknown, and I like to be overly organised, but that won't stop me from all the amazing things I will achieve. I want to look back at my life and be proud of the things I have experienced.
Travelling the world opens up so many of these opportunities, people have so many stories to tell, there is stunning architecture and nature, a variety of new fascinating animals. Using my creativity to capture this is a privilege, and i am so grateful for the opportunities i have, and will have, on my travelling journey.
There will be countless moments to come where i get to expand my knowledge, and face those fears, and hopefully put a smile on some people's faces.
As a child, I always thought that travelling was just something people dreamt about or hoped they could achieve, and now I have realised that I can choose who I want to be, and what I can do. I am so excited to share this with the world and through our blog. Hopefully one day, you will face those fears too.
