Day 1
Arrive in Phuket, and make your way to the hotel to drop your belongings. Have a look around to get your bearings, and have a little swim in the sea. Evening meal, and settle down for the night!
Day 2
Day 3
Option 1: PADI Course day 1 – confined water diving.
Option 2: Visit Andamanda Water Park.
Day 4
Option 1: Day 2 of PADI course – open water diving. We went to the Racha islands for this and did 3 dives.
Option 2: Spend time in the morning at an elephant sanctuary, and go to Kata or Karon beach to watch the sunset.
Day 5
Option 1: Day 3 of PADI course. Includes 1 final skills dive, and 2 fun dives at either Racha or Phi Phi.
Option 2: Have a spa day. There are lots of good options (also cheap) in Phuket! We got recommended to go to Ton Mai Spa but unfortunately did not get chance to go.
Day 6
Option 1: Visit Phuket Old town. If you are there on a Sunday, visit the night market on walking street!
Option 2: Visit Hanuman World, this is where they have Mario Kart style go karting.
Day 7
Option 1: Book a guided tour.
Some options include: Multiple islands tour, bioluminescent canoeing, ATV jungle adventure, carnival magic, ziplining, and many more! Look on GetYourGuide, Viator, and Klook.
Option 2: Book a boat trip to visit the Phi Phi Islands. You can do this snorkelling, or diving. Visit all top top sights, withought having to worry about the conservation rules and damaging the environment.
This is the view from the top of the FIRST section, before the swing stop. The road to get here is very steep! But the view is worth it.
This is a section of the jungle path, rope is provided to help on the steeper parts.
The final incline before reaching the top!
The photo I got with the least amount of people…
Approaching the Phi Phi islands. We did not get off onto the islands.
Maya bay – protected. You cannot take food or drink onto the beach, or swim in the sea.
One of the market stalls at the Sunday Market in Phuket Old Town.
Homemade lychee tea from a market stall. This was delicious, and only cost 50 baht.
Tips & Extra Resources
When visiting Phuket, we stayed in Nai Harn, which is in Rawai. Rawai is really far south and out of the way. There are still lots of shops nearby, public transport is available, and a 7-Eleven is only a 10-minute walk. However, if you like to party, it would be better to stay near Karon or Kata Beach, as it is a lot more lively.
- Rainy season begins early May
- If doing strenuous activities such as hiking, swimming, diving, drink 2-4 litres, with electrolytes
- Bolt was cheaper than Grab in Phuket (for us at least)
Thank you for reading, I hope this helps along your Thailand journey, as it can be very stressful making sure everything fits into your plans!
